U13 FRIENDLY VALENCE 5:1 FREEFLOW

They say football is a game of two half's and this was the case here. Freeflow U12's dominated the first period and looked like they could go on to win the game however they paid the price after making mistakes.

The game started at a fast pace with Valence playing a very physical game with many long balls into the channels and then crosses. It was Valence who tested the Freeflow goal early by winning the second ball from knock downs and shooting just wide. However Freeflow came into the game gradually and began to dominate with some cohesive passing through Karan, Harpal, Balraj and Rajan being the player to provide the final ball to the Harvinder through the middle and Demi on the right.

But it was Valence who scored against the run of play, after Freeflow failed to defend an un-creative nothing long ball. After some fortunate deflections in the box, a Valence midfielder arrived late and struck home a sweet shot from just inside the area across the goal keeper, Anoop.

But Freefow responded within minutes with Demi and Daniel combining on the right after an Iyub pass which lead to ball played across the box and Harvinder and Lewis between them bundled the ball home at the back post, 1:1. Just Before Half-time Rajan struck an angled drive from distance destined for the far bottom corner, but the pitch intervened and changed the course of the ball onto the post. The rebound fell for Demi with all the time in the world and he sliced the ball over.

Having been rallied and warned at half-time Freeflow fell apart in the second period. Another hopeful long ball and more deflections Valence went 2:1 up within seconds of the restart. 2:1 soon became 5:1 with mistakes in midfield and defense leading to cheap uncreative goals. After some substitutions Freeflow did create, but only to strike the ball straight at the keeper.

Valence an experienced team with league pedigree had finished 4th in their respective league and lost a cup final. The pitch was not the greatest meaning Freeflow had to adjust their style of play by not focusing on dribbling and too many short passes. On top of this referee was more than just biased towards the home team, he was completley ridiculous, however the Freeflow U12 players need to combat this next time as most referees at this level back the home team.
