ALL SAINTS 5:9 FREEFLOW

Freeflow extended their consecutive wins to 6 games and remain unbeaten away from home but this was not most enjoyable match to be involved in. All Saints were the hosts and they as players, officials and coaches proved to be hostile and immoral considering they are a church team.

On a very rainy day Freeflow dominated the game, scored some lovely goals, had many goals disallowed, had many decisions go against them and had to deal with 15 minutes worth of unjustifiable injury time. The attitude of the opposition and referee was totally unacceptable, an utter disgrace and another example of why grass roots football in this country is so poor with no moral or social consideration.

Following Freeflow's 3:0 win against All Saints at home, were their were signs of All Saint's poor discipline and leadership, Freeflow always anticipated this game to be difficult from a non-football point of view. As a result they were instructed from the offset to deal with antics from All Saints in the correct, dignified and graceful manner, otherwise known as the Freeflow way.

Ahmed returned to the team after injury and he produced a powerful and, skillful dominating first half performance. His presence and form seemed to inspire the players around him. After dominating Freeflow took the lead from Raj's lovely cross, which was indivertibly converted by the All Saints defender, an own goal and 1:0. The second goal was a moment of sheer Freeflow class. A pass and move attack which was executed with one two touch play by Jaspreet, Selim, Ahmed, Jag, and the Raj who from the right wing squared for Selim who arrived late to score from 6 yards with a firm finish, 2:0.

All Saints response was to kick the Freeflow players and for their referee to just wave play on. Despite this being an obvious distraction Freeflow used this as inspiration to attack in numbers. Ahmed from a deep position threaded a lovely pass to Raj who finished with style and ease. This goal sparked a debate as All Saint's players were adamant the goal was offside and the referee who was the All Saints coach failed to take control of the situation.

Manvir then exchanged a lovely one two with Selim, Manvir's shot was well struck, hit the post and Ahmed was on hand to arrogantly back hell home, 4:0. With more decisions disputed, and more ugly play Freeflow continued to dominate. Ahmed added his second from close range after an in-swinging Kamel corner, 5:0. All Saints then managed to produce some attacking play and scored a lovely goal which involved a one two, 5:1. They continued to attack and scored a quality header from a corner, 5:2 at half-time.

Freeflow continued to attack in the second half and after a 10 minute spell of poor finishing, Manvir volleyed beautifully home after Selim laid the ball off to him, 6:2. Manvir who had now continued his personnel record of scoring in every game he has played, added another after Jag beat 2 defenders on the right and centered for Manvir to finish, 7:2. All Saints continued to complain, and stop the game, but Freeflow refused to get involved. When All Saints did stop their antics during the match they showed they can play, as they scored two quick goals, and very good goals, 7:4.

After some substitutions Freeflow continued to attack in numbers and had a dozen attacks stopped and goals disallowed based on poor refereeing and disruption from the home team. This did not stop Jag though who from close range after a penalty box scramble lashed the ball home, 8:4. Jags goal appeared to come in the last minutes of the game, but All Saints pulled another well worked goal back, 8:5 and the referee decided there were 10 minutes left and in the end played 15 more minutes instead. In this time Sunil had a legitimate goal disallowed for off-side and then had another dissalowed for off-side, but correctly on this occasion, but he soon had his moment when Kamel skipped past the right back and crossed for Sunil who finished expertly, 9:5.

Despite scoring nine goals and continuing their pursuit of the league and cup double, Freeflow did not enjoy this game, But they did well to control themselves without retaliating against the opposition's disgraceful hostile behaviour and refereering and they did well to adjust their game to the wet conditions. On another day with the correct rules and morals applied Freeflow would have walked away with 20 goals from this game. Most importantly though the Freeflow players represented the Academy ethos and philosophy superbly in a testing circumstances.

STAR PERFORMERS

SELIM put tackles in, played good one two touch passing, scored a great team goal and controlled himself during times of hostility.

JAG linked the play well, moved of the ball intelligently and dazzled the opposition with lovely dribbles and touches.

AHMED back from injury and back to his scoring ways. His return and performance was a confidence boost and he too did well to control his temperament.

RAJ's positional sense was consistent and he always created space with a clever run or incisive pass.

KAMEL made two goals, tracked back and hit the bar with a superb free-kick. His end product was a major improvement compared to previous games.
