FREEFLOW 10:0 KBC

A week after the semi-final disappointment it was important to bounce back in the league as Freeflow still have the title race in their sights. The first fixture between these two teams resulted in a 14:0 win for Freeflow and without being arrogant and complacent they were expected to win by the a similar margin.

KBC though appeared to be better organised and it was evident they did not want to loose so emphatically again. However things went against right at the start as Freeflow were awarded a dubious penalty for handball. It appeared to be more ball to hand than intentional. Vinay confidential grabbed the football and made the spot-kick his own and tucked the penalty low to the goal-keepers left, 1:0. This early blow for KBC resulted in their defense to capitulate as Freeflow dominated the proceeding from here on. Jay crossed the ball from the left and Manvir controlled from close range and fired the ball home with the aid of a deflection, 2:0.

Half-way through the period Samee was introduced. Freeflow continued to use the wide areas and Manvir crossed from the right, Samee used his strength and touch to bring the ball down and neatly tuck his shot low into the far corner, 2:0. The attacking intent continued as Samee latched onto Harj's precise through ball and then finished again accurately into the far bottom corner, 4:0.

Manvir who had scored in every game he was involved in then scored his second to add a fifth goal from close range again from a cross, this time from Samee to return the earlier complement, 5:0. Before half-time Freeflow were awarded another penalty after the impressive Vinay was clipped. Arjun this time stepped up to tuck the spot kick away, low and hard, 6:0 at the break.

Freeflow made changes for the second period to experiment with formations and players and they produced lethargic disappointing performance for fifth teen minutes. Manvir though got the ball rolling again as he beautifully headed Mourad's accurate cross into the top corner, 7:0. Jag hurt the opponents with clever moments of movement and dribbles but failed take his clear cut chances.

Mourad on the right continued to the worry the KBC left back with nice skill and link play and he really deserved a goal. But he continued to assist as he crossed again for Manvir to head a less spectacular goal, 8:0. Jay also got on the goal scoring act as Jaspreet from his own half volleyed a lovely switch ball through to the left-footed Jay, who raced clear and finished clinically into the far bottom corner, 9:0.

In the last minutes of the game there was a cry for more goals on the touchline and Vinay re-introduced to the game burst past two defenders on the right to cross only for the KBC player to scuff the ball into his own net, 10:0.

This was always going to be a game were Freeflow would win if they played well, but the major learning point was to guard against complacency and above all arrogance. Against a weaker teams it is always easy for players to become arrogant and disrespectful to the opponent, a point not made enough it would seem with other teams at grass roots level in the UK. But the Freeflow players conducted themselves well and were graceful in victory.
